A short directory of the work — design, planting, pruning, and the patient maintenance that keeps a garden in itself.

Garden Design
Site walks, planting plans, sketches drawn by hand.
Every garden begins with a conversation and a walk. Kirsten visits the site, studies the light and soil, listens to how you live in the space, and draws a planting plan by hand. The result is a composition that feels inevitable — as if the garden had always been there.

Planting & Installation
From bare bed to mature composition.
Spring and fall are planting seasons on the Cape. Kirsten sources nursery stock she trusts, amends the soil properly, and plants with an eye toward the garden three years out — not just opening day. Every shrub and perennial is placed for long-term health and beauty.
✿
Seasonal Maintenance
Spring opening, summer care, fall closeout, winter prep.
A garden is a living thing and asks for steady attention. Kirsten provides spring opening, summer deadheading and feeding, fall cutback and mulching, and winter protection for tender specimens. Each visit keeps the garden on track through the Cape Cod seasons.
❦
Pruning
Roses, hydrangeas, fruit trees, ornamental shrubs — done at the right time, in the right way.
Pruning is the most consequential thing you can do to a woody plant. Done well, it shapes growth, encourages bloom, and extends the life of the specimen. Done poorly, it sets the plant back years. Kirsten prunes roses, hydrangeas, fruit trees, and ornamental shrubs with knowledge built across four decades.
✿
Organic Spray Protocols
Tailored programs for roses, hydrangeas, and fruit trees.
Cape Cod's salt air and humidity create particular disease pressures. Kirsten designs organic spray schedules for roses, hydrangeas, and fruit trees — timed to the plant's growth cycle, not the calendar. The goal is prevention, not rescue.
❦
Kitchen Gardens & Berry Patches
Designed for harvest and beauty in equal measure.
A kitchen garden should feed you and delight you. Kirsten designs raised beds, herb borders, and berry patches that produce generously while looking beautiful enough to sit beside. She grew up on a Danish farm where the kitchen garden was the center of the household.
✿
Renovation & Restoration
Bringing overgrown gardens carefully back to themselves.
Old gardens hold decades of intention beneath the overgrowth. Kirsten reads the bones of a neglected landscape — the original paths, the mature specimens worth saving, the volunteer seedlings to remove — and brings the garden back without erasing its history.
❦
Consultation & Coaching
A single visit, a sketched plan, a way forward.
Not every garden needs a full design engagement. Sometimes a two-hour walk-through with an experienced eye is enough. Kirsten visits, assesses what you have, sketches a rough plan, and leaves you with clear guidance on what to do next — and what to stop doing.
